Food gifts also work well for giving to those with whom you are not much of an acquaintance. Christmas food gifts can be customized and depending on what you can afford you could gift a box of Chocolates or a whole basket of chocolates. However, when you send out food gifts, you should know a person's unique likes and dislikes. For instance, if he or she is a vegetarian, or eats only kosher food. Also, since food is a perishable item ensure that you gift the kind that doesn't rot away in a day or two. Ideally it should last for at least two weeks. Christmas food gift baskets are the best option available.

Homemade Food Mix
Holidays mean a treat of homemade food and delicacies. How about giving some homemade cookies, breads or candies on Christmas for neighbors or coworkers? It's a great idea for giving food gifts on Christmas that have been prepared by yourself at home. You can even gift baking mixes, soup seasonings or assorted nuts and beans in canned jars. Here's an easy cookie mix jar as a holiday gift this Christmas.
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, dash salt, 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar, 3/4 to 1 cup small candies or chocolate chips.
Method
Sift together the flour, soda, and baking powder and layer in a wide-mouth 1-quart canning jar, the sugar, the candies, then the flour mixture. Write the following instructions on a small handmade or purchased card and tie it to the jar.
Cookies
In a large mixing bowl beat 1 cup softened butter with 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Mix in the cookie mix and using hands or wooden spoon blend it thoroughly. Shape the cookie dough into balls of the size of walnuts. Now, place cookies on lightly greased baking sheets, about 2 inches apart and bake in a preheated 375° for 10 to 12 minutes, until edges are lightly browned. Makes about 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
