Black Christmas

"If nothing else, Black Christmas will always be remembered as the inferior older brother to Clark's other Christmas flick, the Tito of the Jackson clan" - By Ryan Cracknell

Well Black Christmas directed by Bob Clark is a Canadian horror movie, which can be described as a creepy horror movie set at the time of Christmas.

Black Christmas stars Olivia Hussey who plays the role of a young college student who needs to deal with a psychopath killer lurking in her house. Margot Kidder, Andrea Martin, John Saxon and Keir Dullea portray the other characters in the movie. The story of the movie has been written by Roy Moore while the music of the movie has been done by Carl Zittrer.

Black Christmas is known for the use of dark corners, off-kilter camera angles and the music score by Carl Zittrer for creating a claustrophobic experience for the movie audience. The budget of the movie was calculated to be around $620,000 and the movie was shot around Toronto during the winters of 1974. When the movie Black Christmas was released in United States, then its name was changed to 'Silent night, Evil night'. The simple reason behind this change of the movie title was that the director was afraid that the audience of United States would take it to be a movie based on African Americans. Despite the name change the movie could not do well in United States. So, its name was again changed to Black Christmas and was again changed to 'Stranger in the House' for the purpose of TV broadcasting.

The story has been set up during the time of Christmas when every one is rejoicing in the splendor of the majestic occasion. At this time some girls in the sorority house start getting creepy obscene calls, which they first ignore but have to take them seriously as the intensity of these calls increase. None other than a psychopath who has entered the sorority house makes these calls. After some time a town girl and a sorority sister go missing and the police gets involved in the incident. The police team is lead by a legend played by John Saxon who must find and stop the killer before he manages to strike again.
