The life of George Cukor as a worker in the entertainment world began when there was a search for new talents in Hollywood to take part in the sound movies. In the year 1929 George Cukor got his first job in Hollywood as a dialog director in Paramount Pictures. The first film in which he worked was River of Romance. Then in the next year George Cukor also took a vital part in the movie titled as All Quiet in the Western Front. This film was released by the famous Universal Pictures.
But George Cukor's success as a filmmaker reached its acme with the series of movies like What Price Hollywood?, A Bill of Divorcement, Dinner at Eight, Little Women, David Copperfield, Romeo and Juliet, and Camille. In the year 1937 George Cukor became a celebrity when he worked as a filmmaker in the classic movie Gone with the Wind. David O. Selznick hired him as a director for this auspicious film. But he was later replaced by another director before the completion of the movie.
George Cukor was a great director for the actors. His direction led many newcomers to win Oscars. James Stewart, Ronald Colman, Judy Holiday all were his brainchildren. They won Oscars for the movies like A Double Life, Born Yesterday and The Philadelphia Story. George Cukor reached his celebrity stardom by making great films like Two-Faced Woman, Gaslight, Adam's Rib, The Marrying Kind, A Star is Born, Wild is the Wind, Lets Make Love, Heller in Pink Tights, The Chapman Report, The Blue Bird and his final work Rich and Famous which was released in the year 1981. George Cukor died in the year 1983 on 24th January when he was eighty three years old. His death was deeply mourned the Hollywood film industry.
