His mother left him and the family and returned to England when he was only eight. Jackman remained with his father. Jackman's education started at Pymble Public School and Knox Grammar School. Jackman is 6' 2 ˝" tall who is nearly a foot taller than Wolverine. According to the original comic Wolverine was 5' 3". The Filmmakers needed to shoot Jackman from the waist up to make him appear shorter than he actually was. The role of Wolverine made Hugh Jackman an instant star.
