Keaton was the youngest of seven children. He was born at Michael Douglas in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania on September 9, 1951. After studying speech at Kent State University for two years he opted out and moved to Pittsburgh. Among his numerous other jobs, the job of an ice-cream truck driver was one. Keaton wanted to build his career up as an out-and out comedian that did not prove to be that successful. His job as a cameraman for the Pittsburgh PBS station made him realize that he wanted to be in front of the camera, rather than behind it.
Keaton moved to Los Angeles and joined the L.A. Branch of Second City and started appearing in the auditions. During this time he started getting work. He started writing scripts and acting on a number of television series. Michael Keaton got his first big break in the sitcom Working Stiffs (1979) with old friend Jim Belushi. In 1982 he made an auspicious film debut as the perpetually cheerful owner of a morgue cum brothel working in Night Shift. He won rave reviews for his performance in Mr. Mom that released the following year. It appeared that Keaton would not have to look back anymore.
When Michael Keaton was on a winning streak, suddenly a series of some mediocre films by Michael Keaton got released, such as, Johnny Dangerously (1984) and Gung Ho (1985). The 1988 project Beetlejuice assured Keaton's comeback. Beetlejuice proved to be one of the year's most popular films. Michael Keaton worked in some of his best works this year, such as, "The ghoulish", title character in "Revolting", etc. His hard core comic performance contrasted with his work in the same year's project "Clean and Sober", in which he played a drug addict trying to come out of his addiction and trauma. These performances put Keaton back in the Hollywood hot spot. In 1989 he starred in Burton's Batman. Despite not being the first choice for the role, Keaton was ultimately selected by audiences and critics and he was the hands down winner. In the1992 sequel called Batman Returns he was present with the same stature.
Some of Keaton's most successful works were made in the 1990s. Michael's roles in Quentin Tarantino's Jackie Brown (1997) and Steven Soderbergh's Out of Sight (1998) re-established Michael Keaton as one of the most talented actors in Hollywood. In 1999, Keaton returned to his behind-the-camera business of serving as the executive producer for Body Shots.
