Warren did his high school from Arlington,Virginia and attended the Northwestern University. His first screen role was in The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis which he personally didn't appreciated. He started working for Broadway stage and achieved Tony-nomination for his performance in A Loss of Roses.
Warren's first leading role came in 1961 for a hit drama, Splendor in the Grass. Beatty was not taken too seriously as an actor but he proved everyone wrong in his next drama, Mickey One, in 1965 directed by Arthur Penn. Following this, came Promise Her Anything which was a lighthearted comedy. Warren starred opposite Leslie Caron for the film and they were also known to have an affair.
Beatty's first biggest success came with Bonnie and Clyde with co-star Faye Dunaway. The film had strong and compelling performances and a brilliant direction which ultimately made it a massive hit and Warren finally got his share of publicity. Thereafter, Warren starred, produced and even directed a few films which have come to be regarded as immemsely significant in Hollywood today. Some of these films are McCabe & Mrs Miller, Shampoo, Heaven Can Wait and Red for which Warren earned the Oscar Award for Best Director. The renaissance of Hollywood in the era of 1970 saw Warren as playing a significant part in making innovative films that were not only successful but unforgettable.
Warren had almost entirely disappeared in the 1980s and his comeback Ishtar was the biggest disaster of the decade. His next film was Dick Tracy which was followed by Bugsy, Love Affair (another tragedy), Town and Country and Bulworth. Warren's private life has been equally enthralling. He has been linked to Joan Collins, Leslie Caron, Madonna, Julie Christie, Liv Ullmann, Brigitte Bardot, Carly Simon and many other women of his times. Warren Beatty had finally settled down with Annette Bening with their four children.
