Curly hair can be a boon and a bane at the same time. It looks great when it's styled and you are all dolled up but when you wake up early in the morning and look into the mirror..well, that's another story altogether. The first step to caring for Curly hair is to accept it the way it is, there's no point in tugging it to hope that it will miraculously turn straight over night. Fact is, and I am sure that many of you with curly hair have heard this before, a lot of people pay |

good money to get their hair stylized into the kind of curls that you have so make the most of it. Follow these basic Hair care tips for healthy curly hair.
- A lot of people with curly hair tend to over do on shampooing; the thing is that shampooing reduces the natural oils in your hair. Therefore, limit the shampooing to just twice a week. However, every time you shampoo, be sure to use a conditioner after it to moisturize your tresses. You would also do well to use a shampoo and conditioner that is specifically meant to be used for curly hair.
- As far as possible avoid using brushes, instead use a wide toothed comb. A brush is not suitable to untangle your hair, it can only lead to hair breakage and frizziness.
- De-tangling Curly hair is an art by itself. To start out with make sure your hair is wet and apply some condition at the end (this will reduce the breakage), then run your fingers through your hair to open out the knots an tangles. After that use a wide toothed comb and comb from the roots of your hair till the tip. Be gentle, don't tug and pull and get frustrated.
- Once you have detangled your hair, rinse it with water, and keep half the conditioner in your hair. Never ever try to detangle curly hair when it is dry as it will lead to hair breakage.
- Do not use a towel to dry your hair or even brush it while it is wet. This is done to avoid frizziness. If you must use a towel, just gently dab it on your head instead of rubbing it vigorously.
- Deep condition your hair or do a hot oil treatment at least once a month to ensure that your scalp is well moisturized. You can even increase it to twice a month for best results.
Use leave in conditioner often. Also use some mild gels and other styling products to style your curls and to get them to stay like that.
