Foundation
Remember a good painting comes with an even better canvas. So the first thing you need to do is choose a good foundation that suits your skin tone and type. For instance, if you have oily skin go for a foundation that is oil free. When selecting a foundation, apply a bit on your inner wrist and if it blends in without looking like a mask, that is the foundation for your face. Apply it gently outwards from the T-zone taking good care to even out the edges so that the foundation does not stand out in contrast. If you are using liquid foundation, you can make it stay longer by dabbing some loose powder on your face after it
Eyes
In case you have dark circles under your eyes, your best bet is to apply some white eye shadow and foundation over it. You could then use a concealer that matches your skin to even it out. Choose three eye shadow in a compatible shade, many manufacturers sell them in threes so that should be easy. Avoid using cream stick shadows, instead opt for powder shadows. Use the lightest color just below your brow bone and the medium shade over the rest of your eyelid. Use the darkest shade in the crease of your eye, applying outwards. Blend all three with your fingers gently where they meet to give a look of depth. Next apply a good eyeliner and a waterproof mascara making sure that no lumps cling to your eyelashes.
Cheeks And Lips
To make your cheekbones stand out and look prominent, use compatible blush in two shades, one slightly darker than the other. The lighter shade should be applied to the cheek area that you wish to enhance and the darker shade along the cheek line. Apply the shades with a brush but use your fingers to blend them wherever they meet and contrast. Remember with blush, less is always more, so stick to subtle, elegant shades and blend them in evenly.
When it comes to lips, the question is whether or not to apply a lip liner. If you wish to make your face look slimmer, your lower lip should be highlighted, in which case do not apply a lip liner as it makes your lips look thin. However, if you are looking for definition and shape then you would do well to apply a lip liner. Fill in the color into your lips. Use a blotter if you like and then gently gloss it over.
