All traditional "hindu" weddings take place in "mandaps". It's in the "mandaps" the ceremony of "phereys" take place. These "phereys" are a wedding ritual in which the couples circle round the sacred fire seven times. As a sign of prosperity and happiness, the "mandap" is made of red, yellow and silver colors, often decorated with flowers and herbs. "mandap" is a kind of a four-pole canopy at centre stage. The sacred fire in the "mandap" indicates not only the elucidation of the mind, knowledge and happiness, but is also a clean and pure witness to the ceremony.
To mesh tradition and modernity, netted drapes, silver color instead of golden with fresh flowers like carnations, baby roses, lilies or orchid are used for decorating the "mandaps". Earthen "kalashs"(pots) and silver "thalis"(plates) can be good decorative pieces around the "mandaps". The "varmala" or garland of both bride and groom can be made of a variety of colors and now mixed and matched with ribbons and netted cloths. The groom's car in the Indian traditional wedding is also decorated.
