Mother’s Day Recipes

The tradition of worshipping Mother Goddess originated with ancient Greeks and Romans. Though the concept of Mother’s day was evolved from their celebrations, it scarcely tells us anything about the root purpose of worshipping Her. In modern days Mother’s Day is observed to recognize the inevitability of the mother in a family as well as in the life of her child. If a toddler is compelled to grow

without the help of its mother, we know how difficult it’s going to be.

She takes so much of pain in bringing a child to the world and to bring it up into a sensible man/ woman. Mother gets no reward for this apart from the love and respect her children have for her. To celebrate Mother’s Day you might have some innovative ideas in mind. This is high time to put those into work. Theydeserveit will help you with some more ideas in this page, Mother’s Day Recipes.

Mother’s Day can be spent in a unique way by giving the mother a little rest.

She cooks food for her children everyday. Why not put some extra effort and take the responsibility in your own hand for the day? It is difficult to say whether the cuisines will be palatable or not, but this gesture of sensibility will definitely bring a wide smile on her face. You can go for the staple diet if you think it to be a convenient one, but it is better to surprise her with your culinary skill by cooking something special. The best way to impress her is by cooking her favorite dishes. Theydeserveit will help you with a few recipes.

  • The first thing that comes to our mind about Mother’s Day recipes is the Simnel cake. The Simnel cake has a history rooted back in the 1600 AD England. People used to take home a Simnel cake on Mothering Sundays.

One Recipe for the Simnel Cake:

1½ Cups butter
4 Cups flour
8 eggs
1 teaspoon salt
4 Cups sugar
2/3 Cup grated lemon & orange peel
      2 Cups Currants
      8 oz. almond paste.

Mix Butter and sugar till it is smooth. Then add eggs one by one after beating the previous one. Add flour and salt to this mixture. Mix peel and currants into the batter. Line a 12” X 15” greased tray with wax paper. Pour in half the batter into the tray. Bake this mixture at 300 degrees for about an hour.

  • Beef Brisket with onion – Lemon Marmalade

1 beef brisket (6 to 8 lbs.)
2 large onions, sliced
2 large lemons, peeled and thinly sliced
2 cups port
½ cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons mixed herbs (optional- rosemary, basil, oregano, thyme)
4 cloves garlic, chopped coarsely
1-1/2 teaspoonful coarsely ground pepper.

Cut excess fat from the brisket. Lay lemon, onion slices and garlic into the pan. Place the brisket on the vegetables. Take brown sugar, port and herbs and mix together until sugar melts. Spread this mixture evenly on the brisket. Sprinkle pepper and cover the pan tightly with a foil. Bake in a 300: F oven for about 4 hours. As the brisket becomes tender, uncover the tray and put it back into the oven and bake for 20 minutes. Raise the temperature to 450 degree F. this will make it slightly brown. Then remove brisket from the pan. Skim off the fat from the pan liquid and put it into a sauce pan. Boil the juices and vegetables and keep on stirring while boiling. When the mixture is thick, reduce heat to medium and keep on stirring for about 20 minutes. Now add salt to taste. Spoon marmalade on brisket and serve hot.
