Well our fathers don't even get a half of what they deserve from us. They may not have toiled nine months to give us birth; they may not show their emotions about us as explicitly as our mothers, but they do everything to make sure that we are safe, that our needs get met, that we receive the best education, provide us the most comfortable
lifestyle, that we inculcate good values and morals and that we lead even better lives than what they have lived so far. For all this that they do for us unselfishly, they need our love, respect, care and support. Gifts are always a special way to convey these feelings to your dad. He doesn't expect this from you but he will be delighted to receive a thoughtful and unique gift from you as gifts speak more than words and show that you care for him. |

No matter how old your dad is, spending some time with him is the best gift you can give him. As we grow older, and get involved in a life of our own other than our family life, we tend to neglect our parents some times. You may be in constant touch with your mom some times during the entire day, but not that much with your dad as he keeps busy most of the time with his work. So whether it's a special occasion or not, spend a daywith your dad that he will enjoy and remember for a long time. You could make a Sunday really special for your dad by taking him with you for hiking, fishing, shopping, or to a ballgame, an amusement park, a playground, play on the beach, go swimming together or for his other favorite activities. You can carry a camera along on the day out to capture the fun moments spend together. Or a unique gift idea for dad would be to Report the day's highlights on a handmade card or in a periodical and present it as a memento to your dad.
Another gift idea for dad would be to give him tickets to a concert, show or sporting event he will enjoy. You can either plan a family outing or just the two of you can go and treat him during the event. Another personal gift would be gift certificates from your dad's favorite stores, restaurants, online shopping malls, or golf or health club memberships.
For the average dad, you can't go wrong if you buy some kind of high-tech gadget, such as a universal remote control, MP3 player, like the iPod Shuffle, palmOne or Pocket PC Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), a new cell phone, digital picture frame, laptop cases, portable media players, digital cameras, relaxation sound machines or multi-function wrist watches.
If you still cant think of something different to gift your dad on Christmas or birthday or Father's day, then a careful review of his interests and hobbies can make it easier to find a nice gift that is also useful. For example, if your dad is a golfer, then get him some golf balls or a golf shift, personalized golf gifts etc. Or if dad is handy around the house and like building and fixing things, a new drill, laser level, or tool kit might make a nice gift. Special foods, food gift baskets and cooking accessories are great for dads who love gourmet food. If your dad loves to do gardening, find some great tools, plants, and books on gardening. Or if your dad loves to read books and journals, then give him a collection of latest best sellers, history books, Biographies of great men or subscription to his favorite magazine. These gift ideas for dad will definitely help you to think creatively and give a different gift this time.
