Bonsai ficus plants

The Ficus tree is 60 ft tall with a width of 60 to 70 ft. Weeping fig also known as ficus benjamina with its dense rounded canopy and drooping branches is quite popular as a landscape tree. This species of ficus trees have thick shiny 5 inch long leaves cover the long branches and the tiny figs gradually turn reddish. One of the specialties of the branches is that they lean down so deep forming a canopy which is so dense that nothing can possibly grow below it. Come home to an interesting world of plants as theydeserveit gives information about bonsai ficus plants.

The ficus plants come in around 600 species and mostly tropical evergreen in nature and they tend to produce a flower which produces a unique fruit that is an inverted flower in reality and all ficus plants don't produce eatable fruits. For many reasons ficus is one of the most adored bonsai. Most ficus are fast growers and can tolerate any soil and light conditions and they make fine indoor bonsai for indoors and are best suited for styles which make use of their property of extensive rooting.

Ficus can be used for all sizes of bonsai and the small-leaved species make the best miniature bonsai. Leaf pruning is mostly used for reducing the size of the leaves and ficus should be wired when the shoots are still green.
