Christmas In Australia

Christmas in Australia is celebrated in the middle of the summer holidays. The summer holidays for kids start from the mid of December to early of February, so kids get ample of opportunities for celebrating Christmas in Australia. Well the celebrations for Christmas in Australia are in no way inferior to the celebrations of Christmas in other

parts of the world like New York, London or Paris. The only and the major difference is that of weather. Since the months of December to February are the summer months in Australia so the Christmas in Australia is always without the sleighs and snow. In fact the temperature in Australia at the time of Christmas may range from 25 to 38 degrees centigrade.

As far as the traditions of Christmas in Australia is concerned the traditions are an adaptation of the different traditions followed in other parts of the world only. From the 1st of December the houses are decorated with decorations like ribbons, bows and lights. The Christmas trees are decorated with all the different ornaments and placed in the most beautiful corner of the house. Visits are paid to the friend's homes and many Christmas parties and Christmas feasts are held. Christmas gifts are wrapped beautifully and placed under the Christmas tree. Children send out Christmas letters to Santa and Christmas cards are posted to the family members and friends who live far off.

Church services are held on both the Christmas Eve and Christmas day. The chimneys are the best places for Santa to come into the house and leave the gifts in the stockings left by the kids by the fireplace. A piece of cake and a drink are left for Santa, which he can have before moving out of the house. Boxing Day is an important tradition at the Christmas time. Boxing Day is celebrated on the day following Christmas and is signified with the cricket match and the spectacular Sydney to Hobart yacht race.

The Christmas carols, which are famous and are sung by the majority of Australians during the time of Christmas, are 'Once in Royal David's City', 'O Little Town of Bethlehem', 'The Carol of the Birds' and 'The North Wind'.
